Israel in Zahlen
55 Jahre nach der Gründung des Staates Israel leben heute 6,7
Mio. Menschen in Israel. Der jüdische Bevölkerungsanteil beläuft
sich auf annähernd 5,4 Mio. Das sind 38% der Juden weltweit. Der
nicht-jüdische Bevölkerungsanteil liegt bei 1,3 Mio., davon sind 82%
Moslems, 9% Christen und 9% Drusen. Am 15. Mai 1948 waren es noch
806.000 Einwohner. Damit hat sich die Zahl seit der Staatsgründung
verachtfacht.
Seit dem Unabhängigkeitstag vor einem Jahr wuchs die
Bevölkerungszahl um 131.000, das ergibt eine Wachstumsrate von 2%.
Seit 1948 immigrierten 3 Mio. Menschen nach Israel, davon kamen
allein mehr als 1 Mio. in der Zeit nach 1990. Im vergangenen Jahr
wanderten 31.000 Menschen nach Israel ein, und 140.000 Babys wurden
geboren.
Jerusalem zählt 680.000 Einwohner, die Bevölkerung stieg im
vergangenen Jahr um 1,7%. 1948 lebten noch 36% der Gesamtbevölkerung
des Landes im Großraum Tel Aviv. Heute sind es 18%. Im wüstenreichen
Südteil des Landes lebten 1948 2,5% der Gesamtbevölkerung. Heute
sind es 14%.
